The Leopardess School of Colombo by Annabel Allen

Book Reading & Launch

Author Annabel Allen introduces a new genre of “wake up and shake up” fiction with a special Sri Lankan twist.  If you are wondering whether there is such a genre with a special Scottish twist, there is! This is a double bill with readings from 2 brand new novelettes*: one set in Sri Lanka and one set in Scotland.

Annabel will talk about imaginative writing, new ways of publishing written works, and other exhilarating stuff.

*Novelette means a shortish story with fresh kinds of intrigue and mayhem.

The Leopardess School of Colombo

Something highly unusual is creeping into the tropical city of Colombo in Sri Lanka.  It is indomitable, almost invisible and may catch some people unawares. Daring women are on a mission with fire in their hearts, ready to ruffle a feather or two. Or maybe lots and lots of feathers.

This inspiring story is for you if:

  • You love quirky, bold stories

  • You love gardening, nature, poetry, singing and/or adventure

  • You wish for positive change to really happen

DARING AUTHOR - ANNABEL ALLEN

Hi, my name is Annabel Allen.  I write refreshingly bold, playful fictional stories set in Sri Lanka. The Leopardess School of Colombo is the first in the quirky Daring Women of Sri Lanka series. My stories aim to uplift and embolden women and girls all over the world. I believe creativity is at the heart of what makes us feel truly alive.

I have chosen to write and publish stories set in Sri Lanka as this is where a very meaningful and crazy part of my life has happened. My stories are heartfelt, imaginative (and often humorous) visions of how things can change. My main audience is women and girls as I believe it is now our time to bring our feminine powers to the fore.

I have experienced many poignant and ridiculous moments on my wild, organic cinnamon and coconut jungle farm in Sri Lanka. I have had more than a few escapades in the capital Colombo and I love travelling in Sri Lanka, meeting amazing people and curious creatures.  I divide my time between Sri Lanka and Scotland, UK where I run Daring Women tours, workshops and retreats. A Daring Women of Sri Lanka tour is planned in 2025.

Early in my career I was trained in journalism at the BBC World Service, published articles in international magazines and journals and co-wrote three books on highly exciting topics about Chinese law.

Leap into the first story called The Leopardess School of Colombo.
