when to come to sri lanka?
If you want to experience the true lushness of Sri Lankan nature, come to the South during the Summer. From late April to August you can relish the bountiful range of fresh fruits: jak fruit, mangoes, guava, avocados… They are literally dripping from the trees. Ignore the online bleats of this is the “off season in the South”. Come to enjoy the monsoon downpours - they usually come at night and the daytime is bright sunshine. But if you do get caught in one, indulge in the wonder of gushing, warm, tropical rain.
During this season, the sea can be rough in the South but there are secluded beaches where you can swim on most days and local surfers know where to surf. It is an amazing time to explore the inland beauty where we know how to find great swimming spots and other awesome hidden places.
Spectacular local temple dancing parades (pereharas) happen all over Sri Lanka during the Summer months - mainly August. Most of them are not well-advertised and the dates are only known by the locals.
LUSH TIMES
Sri Lanka is blessed with plenty of sunshine and stunning sunsets. Bring your sunhat and sunglasses, your light, floaty clothes, your bikini, your frilly swimsuit…
In the winter months the South is particularly sunny. Plenty of year-round fruit and veggies are available including coconuts and bananas.
The main surf season in the South runs from November to late April. Weligama is one of the best places in the world for beginners to start surfing.
Diving and snorkelling are also great in the South at this time. If you are lucky you may see some turtles!
You may just want to swim, paddle in the waves and enjoy beach life.

Sri Lanka offers so much throughout the year. Nature is always delightful. Village life with wandering cows, dogs, kids and kites is lively, except during snoozing times.
Sri Lankans like to eat fresh fruit and vegetables. Local markets are open several times a week. Roadside stalls are stacked with many edible and drinkable treats.
While many people are drawn to the famous temples and historic and wildlife sites, we favour the off-the-beaten track places.
Our tours are very focused on wildlife conservation and replanting, organic food life, as well as natural decorations and clothing. These are accessible any month of the year.
